The ABC Friends Northern Suburbs of Sydney (NSoS) Branch is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
To honour the occasion, ABC Friends is presenting short 30-minute documentary outlining the origin story of the association. In 1976 while in their Turramurra home, Corin Fairburn Bass, Walter Bass, Hans Bandler and Faith Bandler discussed their fears and hopes for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). At the time, the Fraser Government had announced reducing the ABC’s funding.
From this, ABC Friends was born, with over 70,000 nationwide followers.
The screening is taking place at Roseville Cinema on the 4th of July.
‘All three had known racial discrimination and were passionate about the need to protect and support the ABC— the voice of all Australians, standing for freedom, independence, and democracy,’ said Corin Fairburn Bass, who is still an active committee member of ABC Friends Northern Suburbs of Sydney Branch.
