Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA) Australia has been selected as the co-host and benefitting charity for the annual Australian Doctors Orchestra.
Taking place on 12 October at the Chatswood Concourse, all proceeds from ticket purchases will be directed to BDSRA.
The Australian Doctors Orchestra is a national fellowship of medical professionals who are classically trained musicians. Since 1993, the fellowship has been raising money for charities. This year, the Australian Doctors Orchestra presents Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 9 in E minor (New World)”, Jess Wells’ “Emu in the Sky”, Gershwin’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Simon Tedeschi, and Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dances”.
Batten disease is a group of rare neurodegenerative disorders that primarily affect children. As the disease progresses, children experience seizures, vision loss, cognitive and motor decline, and eventually lose the ability to walk, talk, and eat. It is the most common form of childhood dementia. There is currently no cure.
For over 30 years, BDSRA Australia has been supporting families, driving medical research, and raising awareness.
