Another local women’s shelter has been transformed.
Social enterprise Design for Hope has tackled another project and given new life to the independent not-for-profits helping ease the wounds of domestic and family violence.
Design for Hope provides pro bono or low bono services and creates calm and welcoming environments by utilising trauma-informed design (TID) frameworks. TID is used to accelerate the healing process of those in crisis.
From the 19th of November 2024, in just a 7-day turnover, the Sunroom at Jeannie’s for the Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre was refurbished by the talented hands of Design for Hope.
The transformation involved addressing visual clutter by painting brick walls, installing Luxaflex blinds for optimal light and thermal control, and placing furnishings provided by the Ku-ring-gai Rotary.
Project partners included Dulux, Luxaflex, the GrannyFlat Foundation, and Ku-ring-gai Rotary.
‘[We] are deeply grateful to our project partners for their generosity and hard work,’ says Design for Hope. ‘Together, we’ve created a sanctuary where healing and empowerment can thrive.’
