Hornsby Art Prize 2025

Winner of the 2025 Hornsby Art Prize, Silke Raetze

Sydney-local Silke Raetze has taken home the 2025 Hornsby Art Prize. 

This year, Silke’s painting ‘Green Tea with Alex’, a portrait of her fellow artist friend, was crowned the winner from a pool of 71 finalists. The Hornsby Art Prize is a national prize hosted by Hornsby Shire Council in partnership with Hornsby Art Society. 

Silke Raetze was awarded the major prize, winning $10,000 for her work. 

The Photography Award was given to Tamara Dean, for her work ‘Realms’. 

The Sculpture Award was presented to Rachel Lucas for her stoneware ceramic ‘The Survivor’. 

The Drawing Award was given to Claire Tozer for her ink pen and pencil artwork ‘Flow. 

The Printmaking Award winner was Anne Starling for her work ‘Home Comforts’. 

The Painting Award was presented to Katherine Edney for her work ‘I Want to Lie in the Clouds With You’. 

The Hornsby Shire Local Artist Award went to Galston local Roslyn Kean for her print ‘Trapped Beneath the Surface’.

The winners were presented their awards by Hornsby Shire Councillor Janelle McIntosh at a ceremony at the Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.
