Older residents across Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby are being encouraged to get active, creative, and connected this March with packed programs for the NSW Seniors Festival.
In Ku-ring-gai, the Seniors Festival returns with a calendar of events for residents aged 60 and over. Delivered by Ku-ring-gai Council in partnership with local community organisations, the program spans dancing, art therapy, gardening workshops, historical tours, computer skills sessions and health and wellbeing activities.
‘It is a great opportunity to meet new people, build new connections and try new experiences,’ Mayor Kay said.
Festival highlights include “Everything for Seniors Day” at Turramurra Uniting Church on 11 March, a Palm Beach ferry trip to Ettalong on 3 March, a
dementia-friendly art therapy session at Lindfield Seniors Centre, a beginner’s guide to artificial intelligence in Turramurra, and Twilight Jazz at Eryldene Historic House and Garden on 15 March.
Meanwhile in Hornsby Shire, Council is presenting a schedule of free events under this year’s theme, “Live life in colour”. The program focuses on positive ageing, wellbeing and community connection.
Events include a Dementia to ‘Rementia’ talk at Cherrybrook Community Centre on 2 March, Tech Savvy Seniors sessions at Hornsby Library, a Wellbeing Expo, Compassionate Connector training, a Dementia Expo at Westfield Hornsby, an Age Pension information session and a “Live Life in Colour” art exhibition at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.
‘The NSW Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity for our senior community to come together, learn and access useful information and support available,’ Mayor Warren Waddell said.
