The power of print prevails. Recently, our Editor put a call out to publishers for books, mostly by local authors, and before we knew it, a generous stack had arrived. I couldn’t resist flipping through them (many are now on my personal reading wish list!), though they’re earmarked for our upcoming Father’s Day giveaway.
Clearly, I’m not alone in loving the experience of holding a real book—or dare I say, a magazine in hand. Some things are simply better the old-fashioned way, and I hope that never changes.
Research backs this up. Studies show that physical books offer improved comprehension, deeper engagement, and better retention. Without the constant pings and pop-ups of screen reading, we’re free to truly immerse ourselves.
Reading has always been part of my family life. I read to my kids when they were little, and now, as teens, we still share that joy – visiting bookshops, swapping titles, staying connected as their tastes evolve from fantasy to thrillers and beyond.
Among the latest arrivals are works from literary giants like Harlan Coben, Stephen Fry, Tom Trumble, Jo Nesbo, Bill Clinton, and James Patterson—just to name a few.
I can’t wait to share these books with our lucky winners next month!
