Sport NSW held the 2025 NSW Community Sports Awards at CommBank Stadium on the 30th of June.
During the ceremony, 19 recipients were honoured for their commitment to and service promoting sport in their communities. Individuals, clubs, and organisations across the state were recognised.
Among them was Lynn Parker from Roseville Chase, who was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Long Service Honour for decades of service to Paddle.
Lynn Parker began her paddling journey in 1981 with the River Canoe Club (RCC) touring rivers across NSW and Victoria. In 1999, she was the Australian Women Vets champion. Lynn took on judging, officiating, and volunteering for State, Nationals, World Cups, Sydney Masters, and the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She served RCC as President in 1995-96, Secretary between 2001-13, Training and Safety Coordinator in 2012-15, and Vice President since 2015.
During her time as Education and Training Coordinator, Lynn secured grants and conducted hundreds of courses across NSW for clubs and the paddling industry.
‘The Distinguished Long Service Honour presented to Lynn is a testament to her selfless commitment and lasting impact. She has contributed countless hours over many years to ensure others can enjoy the benefits of sport,’ said Sport NSW Chairperson, Chris Hall. ‘Individuals like Lynn have been the backbone of their sport within their community. They have enabled sports participants of all ages and all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the health, social and community benefits that sports participation provides.’
