On Wednesday, 10 September, Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is encouraging the community to participate in Out of the Shadows, a walk in support of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Participants can choose their own time and place and walk to remember those lost to suicide, support those who are struggling, and help Lifeline continue to take steps towards a future free from suicide.
Every day in Australia, nine people die by suicide. By walking 9km, whether along your local streets, in the park, or with friends and family, you can honour their memory and show solidarity with those experiencing emotional distress or mental illness.
Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney (Lifeline H2HS) is one of the country’s largest Lifeline centres, answering more than 11% of the nation’s calls to the 24/7 Crisis Line 13 11 14. Closer to home, Lifeline H2HS provides more than 14,000 hours of counselling, training, and community programs each year, supporting people across Sydney’s north.
Funds raised through Out of the Shadows will help Lifeline H2HS continue delivering these essential services.
Everyone is invited to take part: individuals, families, workplaces, and community groups. By registering, walking, and fundraising, you’ll help ensure Lifeline is there for people in their moment of need.
Take a step towards hope this World Suicide Prevention Day.
