Raise funds for women’s mental health by wearing bright lips in September.
Women are biologically, social, and culturally unique to men, and so is women’s mental health.
In 2010, care for women’s mental health looked different. Gendered mental health care was hard to come by, and professionals were not forward thinking in gender-specific research. This was when Liptember was born, encouraging Australians to support tailored treatment, advocacy, and research.
Since, the landscape has significantly shifted, and the Liptember Foundation has played a leading role.
‘In its early days, Liptember was a grassroots fundraiser driven by passionate individuals willing to wear bright lipstick to start important conversations,’ explains Luke Morris, CEO and Founder of Liptember. ‘Today, it has grown into a national movement embraced by thousands each September.
Beyond fundraising, the development of the Liptember Foundation has established
us as the national peak body for women’s mental health.’
The Liptember Foundation wants to get all of Australia involved. Wear a bright coloured lippy every day in September and be sponsored by friends, family, and co-workers.
Funds raised during the campaign are directed to priority areas outlined in the Foundation’s annual Women’s Mental Health Research Report, and to making national policy changes for gender-healthcare at a government level. The 2025 campaign goal is to exceed last year’s achievement and raise more than $2.2 million.
‘By taking part, you’re helping fund support services, backing vital research, and ensuring future generations of women have better access to tailored support and care. Ensuring all Australian women can achieve their optimal mental health,’ says Luke Morris.
