March has always felt like a month of meaning for me. It carries the celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March, and it also happens to be my birthday month, for me it’s a time for gratitude, reflection, and renewed purpose.
International Women’s Day invites us to recognise the extraordinary contributions of women in every corner of our community – in our homes, workplaces, schools, small businesses, and volunteer organisations.
It’s a day to honour resilience, leadership, creativity, and compassion. But more than that, it’s a reminder that when women support one another, remarkable things happen.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of a community filled with talented, generous, and driven women who lift each other up. One of those women is local photographer Kate Mitchell.
I met Kate at a networking event over a year ago, and from our first conversation I was struck by her warmth and professionalism. Since then, she has become not only a trusted creative collaborator, but also a wonderful supporter of my work in the community.
Kate has an extraordinary gift for capturing people at their best – natural, confident, and authentic. Whether she’s working with families, small businesses, community leaders, or local organisations, she brings care, creativity, and an eye for detail that makes every image feel personal and powerful.
Supporting local businesswomen like Kate is about backing talent, backing courage, and backing the economic independence that strengthens families and communities alike.
Women in small business often juggle multiple roles – entrepreneur, parent, partner, volunteer, carer – all while taking the brave step of building something of their own. That deserves recognition.
This March, as we celebrate International Women’s Day and I mark another year around the sun, I’m reflecting on the power of connection between women.
A conversation at a networking event can turn into a collaboration.
A collaboration can turn into friendship.
And friendship can turn into a network of mutual encouragement that helps us all thrive.
To every woman in our community, whether you’re leading a team, raising a family, studying, mentoring, creating, caring, or quietly making a difference behind the scenes – thank you.
Your work matters.
Your voice matters.
You matter.
And if you’re looking to update your family photos, professional headshots, or capture a special moment, I wholeheartedly recommend connecting with Kate Mitchell – a talented local businesswoman who truly embodies the spirit of women supporting women.
