Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital’s Clinical Midwifery Specialist Gosha Gersbach was named the metropolitan winner of the 2025 Michelle Beets Award for Inspirational Paediatric Care.
Named after the Royal North Shore Hospital Nurse Michelle Beets to honour her memory, the award recognises excellence, innovation and compassion in neonatal and paediatric care. She played a central role in district-wide Special Care Nursery programs, COVID-19 neonatal resources, and advanced neonatal resuscitation training. Gosha has been recognised previously as both Local Midwife of the Year and District Senior Nurse of the Year.
Awards were presented at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel on 15 November by NSW Health Minister Ryan Park and Humpty Dumpty Foundation patron Johanna Griggs ‘These outstanding clinicians exemplify the compassion, skill and commitment that define our health workforce,’ said Minister Park. ‘The Michelle Beets Award not only honours a deeply respected nurse but also celebrates the spirit of service that drives our clinicians to go above and beyond every day.’
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation, now celebrating its 35th year, is Australia’s largest charitable supplier of children’s medical equipment after state and territory governments. It has provided more than $100 million in equipment and initiatives to over 500 hospitals and health services nationwide.
