March has arrived in Bradfield, bringing the first signs of autumn across our beautiful North Shore. It’s a season of change and reflection, and it’s been a busy month both in Canberra and back home in our community.
In Parliament, I’ve been raising local concerns about the proposed 200-square-metre poker machine gaming room at St Ives Shopping Village, drawing attention to the risks of gambling-related harm for our community. I’ve also continued to push for meaningful climate action and housing solutions that meet our local needs. You can read all my speeches on my website, or sign up to the Boele-tin for a monthly update straight to your inbox.
Back at home, it was wonderful to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse at the Lunar New Year Festival in Chatswood. I was also fortunate to visit our Hornsby–Ku-ring-gai Rural Fire Service volunteers at their brigade station and thank them for their dedication and courage in fighting fires in Victoria over the summer.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to host a free Ageing Well community event celebrating the vital role senior mentors play in strengthening connections, sharing wisdom, and supporting others across our community. The event will feature two panel discussions:
- Informal mentoring — the everyday sharing of experience, advice, and perspective through social connection
- Formal mentoring — structured mentoring relationships that support learning, confidence, and leadership
Attendees will hear directly from Bradfield community mentors about the real-world benefits of mentoring – for both mentors and mentees.
If you or your loved ones would like to learn more, I’d love to see you on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Dougherty Community Centre, 7 Victor Street, Chatswood, to celebrate the wisdom, generosity, and energy that our senior mentors bring to the community every day.
See you out there,
NicoletteÂ
