Northern Beaches Council is calling on young residents to help shape the future of their community by joining the 2026–2027 Youth Advisory Group (YAG).
Applications are open until Sunday 12 October for the two-year program, which brings together 25 young people aged 12 to 24 from across the council’s five wards.
Members will meet monthly to represent the voices of local youth, work with council staff and community organisations, and drive initiatives that support young people.
Mayor Sue Heins said YAG is an important platform for youth participation.
“We’re looking for passionate young people with big ideas who care about their community,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity to access leadership and development training, make new friends and contribute to Council’s Youth Voice Action Plan. Plus, members receive free entry to youth events such as Northern Composure and the Beaches Young Filmmakers Comp.”
The group plays a role in events like Youth Week and Have Your Say Day, while also putting forward its own agenda on issues that matter to young people.
Council is encouraging applications from diverse backgrounds, including young people with disability, LGBTQ+ youth, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
