Upper North Shore Residents Honoured in 2026 Australia Day Awards

The Office of the Governor General each year releases an Australia Day Honours List. Citizens are recognised, celebrated, and presented awards in the Order of Australia, meritorious awards, and military awards.

In 2026, 949 Australians made the list, many among them locals to the Upper North Shore.

Recipients for the General Division of the Order included:

  • Professor John Cannon from Killara for service to tertiary education, mathematical computation, cryptography, and the development of algebraic software systems.
  • Anne Inkeri Hollonds from Roseville service to community safety, wellbeing and human rights, and policy, research and practice.
  • Dr Michael Jeffrey Hooper from Gordon for service to endocrinology, and biomedical musculoskeletal research.
  • Elizabeth Maria Montano from Pymble for service to law enforcement, regulation and governance.
  • Dr Andrew Pilcher Wines from Killara for service to orthopaedic surgery.
  • Jan Childs from Berowra for service to the community.
  • Ruth Lorraine Havrlant from Pymble for service to netball.
  • Penelope Cathcart Holden from Killara for service to community history.
  • Anthony Rex Morgan from North Epping for service to the insurance sector.
  • Robert John Page from Wahroonga for service to community social welfare.
  • A Public Service Medal was awarded to Marilyn Elizabeth Chilvers from Beecroft for service to NSW in data research and analysis.
