Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shed held its annual “Walk the Talk” 26 November 2025.
Every year, as part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, in collaboration with other domestic violence advocacy organisations such as the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter, the Domestic Violence Network, the KNC, Rotary, the NSW Police, Hornsby Shire Council, Ku-ring-gai Council, and local schools and students.
Visitors gathered at the PCYC in Hornsby, holding signage and wearing orange. The group walked around the surrounding streets in display of their support for the cause.
Visitors take the pledge: “We do not tolerate inequality and domestic and family violence” acknowledging those who have lost their lives this year to DV with a minute of silence.
‘One in five women will experience violence in an intimate relationship in Australia. In Ku-ring-gai, the number of recorded domestic violence-related assault incidents have increased over the last ten years by 85%—and these are only the incidents that have been reported. We need to continue raising community awareness of this issue and support meaningful action to prevent gender-based violence. Our focus is on education, community partnerships, and advocacy to drive long-term change,’ says Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay.
